Current Event Booking Form

Yule 2024 – June 27th-30th – Booking Form

In a cosy lodge high in the alps, we gather this midwinter from June 27th to 30th (over the Matariki long weekend).

To feast! To dance! To prove ourselves in martial combat! To show off our prowess in the arts and sciences!

There are many reasons to join us at Southron Gaard’s Yule celebration, hosted by Gildenwick. Perhaps the main reason is to help bring warmth, fellowship, and light to the frigid depths of winter. Also, there may be snow! (or not, we make no promises)

The site is Rotoiti Lodge, in St Arnaud (Google Maps link here). Close by is the picturesque Lake Rotoiti framed by alpine peaks. There are some great walks nearby for those that enjoy the crisp winter air.

Unfortunately due to the native bush surrounding the Lodge, space is limited, and as such, if you would prefer to tent, please contact the Event Steward (Ailith) at and we will discuss this, otherwise, there are bunkrooms a plenty, and some nice, flat, places to park a campervan. There are no campervan plugs, sorry. However electric cars will be able to plug in with chargers/extension cables that have been recently tested by an electrician. The site is still discussing if there will be a separate charge for this.

From the main hall you have to go up or down a short half-flight of stairs to get to the two bunk room floors, however there is a bathroom on each of the bunk room levels. There is one room suitable for full wheel chair access with one accessible bed and one top bunk for a carer or friend. If this is the only room you could stay in, please email me before you book to ensure it is still available.

Event fees are:

  • Full Event (inc food and feast): $200 Adult / $115 Child
  • Day trip Friday (inc feast): $60 Adult / $40 Child
  • Day trip Sat (inc lunch): $35 Adult / $20 Child
  • Children under 5 are free

N.B. Add $2 per adult non-member to event fees. Please also note that day tripping is from 9am to 4pm, if you wish to remain into the evening, the site requires an overnight payment.

Performing is not for everyone, but it is appreciated by everyone, as such, as an A&S challenge, I will have tokens for everyone who does some form of performative display at this event. This includes everyone who:

  • Takes part in any feast entertainments
  • Sings a song, tells a tale, or plays an instrument in front of at least one person who is not their normal audience, or
  • Dances at the ball.

The schedule below is only a draft, some activities may or may not happen depending on attendees.

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you there!
