Bal d’Argent 2026

Southron Gaard is pleased to host the Bal d’Argent, the annual social event of Lochac’s Guild of the Silver Rondel, as part of its ongoing series of Day of Dance collegium events.
During the day, there will be classes in dance and music. There will be a meeting of the Guild members present.
The evening will begin with a repast from the hands of one of Southron Gaard’s fine cooks.
After that will be the Bal d’Argent itself, the Silver Ball. Amongst the activities in the Ball will be competition dances for Rondels and for people who are not (yet) Rondels.

When is it? Saturday, 29 August 2026, from 10am.
Where is it? At The Village Community Centre Papanui, 460 Papanui Road, Christchurch 8053 (Google Maps reference)

Timetable for the day:
9:30 am – site opens.
10:00 am – first class session
12:00 pm – lunch, and also a meeting of the Guild
1:00 pm – second class session
2:30 pm – afternoon break
3:00 pm – third class session
4:30 pm – break to prepare for the evening
6:00 pm – repast begins
7:00 pm – ball begins
9:30 pm – clean up
10:00 pm – site closes
People can wear garb or mundane gear for the daytime sessions, but the Repast and Ball in the evening will be garbed. The theme for the Ball is based on silver or white, of course, but the Barony’s colours of red and gold could also appear.
