Yule! Presented by the Hamlet of Hinterland Downs (June 19-22, 2025)
The Hamlet of Hinterland Downs is proud to announce that we will once again host Yule over Matariki weekend this year! The essential details for your consideration – mark your calendar now!

WHEN: Site opens Thursday June 19 at 3pm, and closes Sunday June 22 at 3pm.
WHERE: The Raincliff Youth Camp, 3788 Spur Rd, Pleasant Point 7974 (19 km from Pleasant Point following Totara Valley Rd. The same site as Yule two years ago).

COST:
  Full event: $155/$80 (adults/minors)  Full event (off-site accomodation) $110/$55 (adults/minors)  Day-trip rates, both with and without meal plan, and the Saturday night feast, are available. Inquire with the Steward, or refer to the booking form when it becomes available.

Event Highlights (so far!): 
1. Friday afternoon: We are planning a visit by Timaru’s Raptor Man, who will conduct a falconry demonstration! There will be an opportunity afterwards with the planned Market for you to have a photo opportunity holding one of the falcons (an additional $5 cost as a donation to Timaru’s Raptor Centre is requested for the latter).
 2. Pizza & Ale! Baron Thorald has delved deep into his tomes of historical cookery, and discovered… medieval pizza! Hence dinner on Friday will be a “Pizza and Ale” repast. This will be followed by a frolicsome Ball to help you work off some of those carbs… 
3. A Spit-Roast Feast: The feast on Saturday evening will be highlighted by a grand spit-roast, with m’Lord Johannes as pit boss for a beast which will be turning on the spit all day on the Saturday…
(Note: vegetarian alternatives will be available, alongside side dishes and dessert prepared by THL Vigdis)
All this, alongside fighting, archery, A&S, and shenanigans still to be plotted…

Thursday: 3 pm: Site Opens for Setup 6 pm: Soup Kitchen, followed by general revelry

Friday:  8 am: Breakfast (Waffles!)  9.30 am Opening Court  12.30 pm: Lunch  1.30 Falconry, presented by Raptor Man(!)  2.30 Market  6 pm: Dinner (Pizza!)  7 pm Ball

Saturday:  8 am Breakfast  12.30: Lunch  6 pm Feast (Spit Roast!)

Sunday:  8 am Breakfast  12.30: Lunch & Closing Court  3 pm: Site Closes
