Welcome to
Southron Gaard
Welcome to the
Barony of Southron Gaard, wherein you may
step back in
time to fight with chivalry, dance with grace, feast with gusto or
pursue the divers activities that enriched the Middle Ages and
Renaissance.
Southron Gaard is
based in the South Island of New Zealand (principally in Christchurch
and Dunedin) and is a branch of the international non-profit
educational organisation, the Society
for Creative Anachronism (SCA).
The SCA is
dedicated to the research and recreation of pre-17th century European
history, with a particular focus on its practical applications in arts
and sciences, including costuming, cooking, martial arts, dance,
calligraphy and illumination, metalwork, archery, music and much, much
more.
See the Oyez box at
right for to-the-minute information on current activities.
If you'd like to
learn more, please take a look at our special section for Newcomers
or contact the Chateleine.
Also keep an eye on our Events Calendar,
which is updated regularly.
Here is an excellent
Website which provides a good
introduction to the various aspects of the SCA.
