Have been somewhat engrossed in mundane and temporal affairs. Have possibly ensnared two potential casual deputies. Finally matched radio frequencies with BA steward to co-ordinate for BA. Conferred briefly with Excellencies regarding BA. Along with Isabel Maria, briefly discussed helping at the widely publicised Armaggeddon event with THL Terese, who I believe graciously accepted. Intelligence from elsewhere later on sujests subsequent planning on Their Excellencies’ part means our presence not required, will hopefully have this confirmed one way or the other at April Council, as nothing in last month’s minutes or on the SG list on the topic of Armageddon has appeared, or at least been found by me. Also had a successful largesse swap -- our thanks to those who donated items for this. * There were ten Southron Gaarders at the Festival, plus Lord Merlin of SG (now Burghardt von der Brandenburg who misses SG very much). Lord Raife de Massard commanded one of sides during the Festival war scenarios, and Lord Dickon Baskin won the Boffer Tournament. * Correspondence with Kingdom Seneschal regarding SG Seneschal applications, Kingdom Reeve and SCANZ Treasurer regarding an SG Reeve application, St Kessog Seneschal regarding First Feast, Castelburn Seneschal regarding St Patrick's event, BA steward regarding event schedule and courts. * Sent out notices encouraging feedback for the Kingdom law review, received and passed on several suggestions regarding the awards system in particular. * Met with Castelburn Seneschal, discussed their plans to move venue, and suggested some ways to increase fund-raising potential of the Canton. They are still growing steadily and seem to be cooperating well with St Kessog and vice versa. * Visited the CF site with Mistress Roheisa to gather more information for a site allocation map she is preparing, including where taps and other infrastructure are placed (see below). The site has far more room for expanded numbers than is obvious at first glance. * Fire-ban mitigation/proposed working bee. During the mapping visit to the CF site, Bartholomew spoke to the site manager, Ross. He said: a) He's definitely happy for us to use the gravel petanque court area if needed in future for BBQs. It is spacious, right between three major camping areas and has a water tap. b) He would welcome an effort to add small (e.g. 3mx3m) concrete pads to two or three existing taps through the site. For example, if we held a working bee to dig and frame such areas, he'd arrange for the concrete to be laid before next CF. Three obvious places are near the main Commons camping area next to Tui, between Northside (fka Artisans) and Draco Veridis, and between Ordo Cygni and Domus Canem. We have asked whether there is any chance to get a water tap and hence pad out by the Amberherthe area. c) District Fire warden, if needed for followup: fire@hurunui.govt.nz EVENT REPORTS/UPDATES: SEPTEMBER COLLEGIUM AND BALL: There will be many balls around that time, including the Ball d’Argent on the 13th. Thus, exact date is to be confirmed to minimise clashes. Have checked out venue. YULE: 5 July. Candles and alcohol are under negotiation. Approx $20 for adult members Formal approval sought with paperwork next month No objections to a pencil booking in FTT. APRIL MUSTER: The April Muster went off well. The weather was good and we had enough for a brilliant Tourney from Sir Tycho and Sir Vitale and their worse halves. The check will be taken to the city council this week. BARONIAL ANNIVERSARY: Been out to site with cooks and also sent photo’s of kitchen to Isabel in Auckland. Free Firewood provided by the site—Yay! All Championships sorted except A&S. Karen and deputy both unable to organise this. Any Takers? Currently approx 40 booked for feast and also 40 for the repast, with 21 for breakfast. Am unsure how much to ask for in advance per meal. Max is 70 people at $8 per head for the repast, 70 people at $9 for the feast, 70 people at $3 per head fro the breakfast. Repast cheque to be made out to David Isdale, feast cheque to be made out to Nicola Rooney, breakfast cheque to be made out to James Piesse. Is it possible to get cheques early next week instead when numbers are more certain after the bookings close? If Not can the council please make an educated guess as to numbers. GENERAL BUSINESS: CF fire ban mitigation, proposed working bee for concrete pads. Pads will be 3x3 m, and concrete will be free We can use the gravel petanque court for cooking if necessary Fires will ultimately be at the steward’s discretion Camp oven is being arranged by Belle. Scout Demo? Chuck it on the list and see if anyone’s interested. Armageddon Demo? (Therese) This is the weekend after BA, at the Convention Centre. Terese will co-ordinate this, and a mailing list will be set up for volunteers. Discussions with Vitale, Vicki and Peter. Could use wrestling space for demos of Armoured fighting and rapier. Discussions with Mina, who put her on to Bill, who gave us a trade table for free, but we will still need a presence all weekend– people wandering around in garb, with pamphlets. We could place a diorama or slide show on the table if someone was to arrange the production of these. Minimum of moveable’s though. We would need new, high impact, brochures, and a new comers evening shortly afterwards. We would need people to staff the table etc both days from 10 to 6. We have 4 free passes. Council approved $300 for staff passes ($15 each/day) Meredith would like to note that from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010 she will be unavailable to do anything more then dishes.
