Attended the Heritage week event which went very well. Had a call from a very enthusiastic newcomer with fours sons. Expect them to be turning up to things very soon. CHATELAINE: Went to the muster on Sunday- had loads of fun- there was a great crowd turn out. Thanks to all the populous who chatted to and generally engaged the public, there were heaps of flyers given out. Attended the Evening at Our City on Sunday night- huge thanks to Ceina for organising the event. It was a great way to showcase some of the things we do apart from the fighting:) Haven't received any applications for my position as yet- fingers crossed. Baronial Scriptorium: We are flagging this due to lack of turn out. Important: 1. LOOKING FOR A DEPUTY. 2. LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE A&S LIBRARY. Could be part of deputy job is deputy agrees. Library needs to be cataloged to go online. Third Tuesday of month changing to a General ?Doing medieval stuff? night (will encourage newcomers to join in). Will aim to have this at a fixed location (not moving each month like seamsters). No scriptorium this month. ACTION SENESCHAL will take responsibility for organising these meetings. Query: Do other groups hold libraries? Our is underused (always has been). CHRONICLER: FTT went out. Alchemist: do we continue to bother? Not getting material. Lila currently going to do November (as last heard). ACTION: BELLE find out from Lila the number of outstanding subscriptions. Ask them if they are keen to continue or would be happy with a refund. Lots of complimentary comments, possibility of doing a demo next year as part of scheduled proceedings. Constructed display stand for use at Militaria show; would be reusable for small displays such as at libraries or community centres. Attended Winds of Waitaha evening with singing group. Decorated Wattyl stand; thanks to Mistress Rohesia for her assistance with materials selection, stand construction and take-down. Assisted with Heritage Week display material, provided Baronial presence for heritage muster and attended UCMRS medieval evening with singing group. Congratulations to Lady Ceina for her excellent presentation and hard work in ensuring this was a success. Also thanks to Lady Mathilde and others who passed out numerous SCA flyers to the interested crowd. There is a suggestion that this could become an annual event run with UCMRS. Modified publicity posters per Council feedback and had three printed following subject approval. One more publicity poster in production (Arts & Crafts one). Printing of three colour @ 50x plus $100 of flyers: $231.55 in total, to be paid by Barony. Need to organise the poster distribution into appropriate outlets. Received confirmation. Received query from Baron Sigurd re the imported helms, checked and contacted purchasers regarding need to improve welding Received notice re production of baronial fealty rings. Likely cost to be approx $160 for two plus contribution to a spare set. Discussion TABLED FOR NEXT MONTH. DEMO: Somerfield school 30th October: reminder of invitation to attend school fair in garb. Richard is doing a short talk at St Andrews and will be donating the money to the Barony. Income issues? SCA INC NZ has a limit on what they (we) can earn in a year before being taxed. Just a note that with the amount of money coming into the Barony recently we may need to pass some onto SCANZ to cover the tax accrued. EVENT REPORTS: M&A show: Went well. Wattyl Paints: Went well. They won best of show for the stand. We have the velvet, carpet etc. Vicki is waiting for the money from them. ACITON VICKI post list of loot to the mailing list and ask for ideas of what to do with it. October Muster: Went well. Fighters ran on time. Might still have kingdom siege marshal attending, or might not. January Muster? Suggestion ? if have container out at Waipara having a picnic out there (with tourney etc) and people can take stuff out to store in it. Wait to see what's happening with 1066 event. Canterbury Faire: Not much new. There is a website, no add in FTT yet.
