Turned up Sunday morning till 10:30 but no-one else showed. A little damp underfoot but no worse than we have had practice in before. High hopes for a fine weekend and getting things back on track again. Worked on planning for CF. Looking for volunteers to run fighting activities. CAPTAIN OF ARCHERS: Arrows don’t like wet so there have been very few practices this month. Tried to get people over to discuss armour and stuff – Not much interest. CAPTAIN OF RAPIER: Rain has cancelled practice a lot recently. The new Hanweis are now legal. No injuries that I know of. A&S: Attended Seamsters and Taddea and Antonia's place, nice to see new people along, Baronial library is going to Lady Amalie's place, Veronica is getting it there this week, as she leaves on the 16th. Collegium timetable is sorted, to be discussed later during the event report. Stream 1 Stream 2 Stream 3 10-11 Naalbinding Stewing Woodwork 11-12 Naalbinding Stewing Woodwork Lunch 1-2 SCA 101 General sewing and project discussion all afternoon Intro to Marshalling 2-3 Dance 3-4 Antonia's Dance continues accessories 4-5 Reticella and smocking Thordis (Sonya) is willing to get the wool and needles for people for her naalbinding class, so long as the attendees bring $8 to cover costs. If there is a shortfall, is council willing to cover it? Sonya would like between 6-8 attendees.(64$) max. CF A&S is getting sorted, the list emails are looking fine, as it's a separate timetable, did not need to attend the planning meeting, but have scheduled a time for the display, around the market, with a dedicated set up time, and if entrants can stay near their items, we will lock the display to Laurels only for the first half hour (this is NOT a Laurel's Prize Tourney,) as a time for Laurels to meet and discuss works with entrants. There is a major emphasis on this not being seen as a scary thing, especially for newbies, just an opportunity for the Laurels to chat informally with those who display their work. No documentation needed, but it's a nice idea. No stuff night theme for this month, just pop along and chat about what people have been working on over the winter months. GENERAL BUSINESS: CASTELBURN REPORT This month, Castelburn held a general activities night, a joint dance practice with St Kessog, and a garbed potluck feast, as well as three rapier practice sessions. We are pleased to have a new couple who had made contact during Cockatrice join us for the feast, and there is a new rapier enthusiast coming regularly to practices. We were also delighted to have the family of one of our regular musicians join us for dancing, which added two experienced Scottish country dancers and a player of the curtal and cornemeuse to our regular line-up. Great fun, and very inspiring! We took the opportunity of a community art exhibition in the council-owned gallery in the city centre to put our Faustus puppets on display. They went down very well; I was particularly pleased to have our dyspeptic Pope on show while Benedict XVI was hogging the headlines during his Australian tour. Harmonia victrix!
